State signee Dante Nori taken in night one of MLB Draft

Mississippi State had its first disappointing outcome of the draft in Sunday’s first round.
It was a strong possibility from the start, but the Diamond Dawgs are slated to lose top signee Dante Nori. The state of Michigan’s Mr. Baseball, Nori was one of the highest rated high school outfielders in the entire draft and he was taken at pick 27 by the Philadelphia Phillies.
Nori, who is turn 20 in October, has clocked a 60-yard dash time at 6.15 and a 30-yard dash at 3.48 while throwing 97 mph from the outfield. He was a potential major player for the Bulldogs in year one had he come to school.

Nori will instead start his professional career early as he was drafted in a spot that has a signing bonus value set at $3.2 million. Had he come to school, the Bulldogs would have likely had Nori projected around the top of the order with his bat and an immediate starter in the outfield.
Nori just finished off a season that had him Third-Team All-American by Perfect Game. Nori led his Northville team to the first state championship in school history after batting .477 with 14 doubles, seven triples, two home runs, 52 runs scored, 21 RBI and 20 stolen bases.
The Bulldogs have also had BHP Jurrangelo Cijntje taken 15th overall to the Seattle Mariners.
