Another eventful MLB Draft has arrived for Mississippi State baseball.

An event that has routinely stretched across three days is now going to be covered in two and State fans along with head coach Brian O’Connor will be sweating out a few players. The first-year head coach has built a strong roster for 2026 but the roster will not be complete until decisions are made on pro careers.

Day one came and went as over 100 picks were made by teams across three rounds. There weren’t any bad surprises for the Diamond Dawgs as two of the signees came off the board as expected. The first of those two was Purvis SS JoJo Parker came off the board as the No. 8 pick overall to the Toronto Blue Jays.

Two rounds later, East Union RHP Landon Harmon earned his spot in the draft as he was taken with the 80th pick by the Washington Nationals. Outside of those picks, State survived the first day of the draft with prep signees like OF Jacob Parker, LHP Jack Bauer and RHP Parker Rhodes not yet taken.

On the transfer player front, close eyes are on OF Aidan Teel and RHP Davion Hickson. State is also watching returning veterans like RHP Evan Siary, DH Noah Sullivan and OF Gehrig Frei.

Monday will answer many questions about the 2026 roster for O’Connor as the Bulldogs have several signees, transfers and current roster players to watch. We’ll be covering it every step of the way.
