A trio of Mississippi State players will have a chance to represent their country with the USA Collegiate National team this summer.

Junior 3B Ace Reese, incoming transfer and sophomore LHP Tomas Valincius and sophomore RHP Ryan McPherson have all been invited to the Team USA Training Camp. The trials begin this weekend on June 29 and run through July 3 in Cary, N.C. The end result would be playing in the USA vs. Japan Collegiate All-Star Championship Series in Japan over July 8-13.

Reese headlines the group following a monster sophomore season with the Diamond Dawgs. After transferring from Houston, Reese led the team in batting average (.352), hits (80), home runs (21), doubles (18), RBI (66) and slugging percentage (.718). Reese was named first-team All-SEC and has made five different All-American lists this postseason including from D1Baseball, Baseball America, NCBWA and Perfect Game.

McPherson is coming off an equally impressive first year in Maroon and White. As a true freshman, McPherson became one of the more interested arms out of the bullpen as he went 4-1 with a 4.12 ERA and pitched in 20 games and 39.1 innings with 56 strikeouts and 5 walks.

The Virginia transfer Valincius is also poised to make a splash at the team trials just before he gets a chance to don the M over S. Valincius was strong as a true freshman for head coach Brian O’Connor in Charlottesville. A member of the All-Freshman team in the ACC, Valincius went 5-1 with a 4.59 ERA as a weekend starter. He pitched 64.2 innings and gave up 33 earned runs with 70 strikeouts and 17 walks.

Dating back to 1984, State has had 14 players selected to Team USA with six in the last 10 years. Most recently, the Bulldogs saw three go to the team following the National Championship in 2021 when RHP Jackson Fristoe and Landon Sims and C Logan Tanner made the squad.

Other past team members include Will Clark, Eric DuBose, Adam Frazier, Konnor Pilkington, Tanner Allen and Justin Foscue.
