Mississippi State finalizes 2025-26 non-conference schedule

On Wednesday, Mississippi State announced the finalization of the 2025-26 basketball non-conference schedule, including the season opener at Humphrey Coliseum.
Mississippi State announced that the 2025-26 season opener will be against North Alabama on November 5th. Also on Wednesday, the date for the Mississippi State-Utah neutral-court matchup in Salt Lake City, Utah, was set for December 13th.
Earlier this month, the Bulldogs received their first-round matchup for the Hall of Fame Classic on November 20-21 in Kansas City, Mo. Mississippi State will open the four-team tournament against Kansas State on November 20th with an 8:30 p.m. (ct) tipoff time on Peacock. The following night the Bulldogs will face either Nebraska or New Mexico. Also this month, the Bulldogs announced a neutral-court matchup against San Francisco in Tupelo on December 7th.
Last month, Mississippi State learned of its SEC opponents, as well, for the 2025-26 season. As in previous seasons, Mississippi State will have a home-and-home series with a trio of SEC foes. This season the Bulldogs maintain home-and-home series with Alabama and Ole Miss, and will also face Missouri twice this season.
With SEC home games in the 2025-26 season, all nine of the SEC matchups at Humphrey Coliseum feature teams that advanced to the NCAA Tournament a year ago. Along with the mentioned home games against Alabama, Ole Miss and Missouri, State will also host Tennessee, Auburn, Arkansas, Georgia, Oklahoma and Vanderbilt.
Looking at the SEC road schedule, including trips to Alabama, Ole Miss and Missouri, the Bulldogs will travel to Florida, Kentucky, LSU, South Carolina, Texas and Texas A&M. Dates and TV assignments for the SEC slate will be released at a later time.
In the non-conference portion of the schedule, the Bulldogs still have a couple more games to add before it is completed. So far, the Bulldogs have a neutral-court meeting with Iowa State and a road game at Georgia Tech for the SEC/ACC Challenge.

Also in the non-conference slate, State will host Memphis, SMU, Southeastern Louisiana, New Orleans and Long Island at Humphrey Coliseum.
Mississippi State finished 21-13 this past season, including an 8-10 mark inside the SEC. The Bulldogs advanced to the program’s third straight NCAA Tournament under head coach Chris Jans and dropped a 75-72 decision to Baylor in the first round. During last season, the Bulldogs posted a 13-3 non-conference record, which included a 6-0 record at home, 2-0 mark on the road and a 5-3 record in neutral site non-conference games.
With at least 21 victories in the past three seasons, Jans is one of four head coaches in SEC history to total at least 21 victories and advance to the NCAA Tournament in each of his first three campaigns.
