With basketball season just a couple of months away, both Mississippi State teams have now finalized their scheduling.

Coach Sam Purcell has his 30-game slate complete and it was announced by the university on Tuesday morning. The SEC schedule was already put together and finished last month and has now been filled in with the non-conference games.

The out-of-conference portion of the schedule is highlighted by the team’s ACC/SEC Challenge and a trip to take on another fellow Power 4 opponent. A showdown with Texas Tech is coming up on Thursday, November 20, as the Bulldogs will travel to Lubbock, Texas to play the Red Raiders.

Last season, TTU was 19-18 but finished with a 4-14 mark in league play. Krista Gerlich is the head coach of the Red Raiders and helped them to a National Championship as a player in 1993. She has spent 10 years coaching with her Alma Mater and the last six of those have been as head coach.

The Bulldogs will host the previously announced ACC/SEC Challenge on Thursday, December 4 when Pittsburgh comes to Starkville. The Panthers were just 13-19 a season ago.

The regular season begins on Monday, November 3, when State will host Davidson at Humphrey Coliseum. State plays its first four games at the Hump with matchups against Georgia State, Mississippi Valley State and Jackson State in succession before heading out West to Lubbock. The Bulldogs will play at the Emerald Coast Classic in Niceville, Fla., on November 24-25 against Alcorn State and either Middle Tennessee State or Providence. MSU also plays Southern Miss in Starkville on Sunday, December 14, makes a rare travel to LaSalle University in Philadelphia and then will close out the non-con schedule at home against Samford on December 28.

Purcell enters his fourth season as head coach of the Bulldogs and holds a record of 67-35 with three postseason berths including two NCAA Tournament appearances.  He is the winningest coach in his first three seasons in school history with a record of 67-35.

This year’s Bulldog team is going to be full of new faces as all of the regular starters either graduated or transferred. Only Chandler Prater and Destiney McPhaul return from the roster from last year in terms of actual production.
