There is still a lot of football to be played inside the SEC over the course of the next few weeks, but the coaches around the league have tabbed their All-SEC list after the 2025 regular season.

A trio of Mississippi State players made the list this week as CB Kelley Jones and WR Brenen Thompson earned third-team All-SEC honors and linebacker Tyler Lockhart was named to the All-Freshman team.

Thompson has spent just one year in Starkville but it has been one to remember for the Texas native. Noticed nationwide as one of the fastest receivers in college football, Thompson is closing in on becoming just the fourth receiver in State history to eclipse 1,000 yards receiving.

This season, Thompson has hauled in 53 passes for 948 yards and six touchdowns. He came to State after spending a year at Texas in 2022 and then two seasons at Oklahoma, one of which where he played for then offensive coordinator Jeff Lebby.

During those three years, Thompson had a combined 27 catches for 503 yards and four touchdowns. He’s going to have a chance to at least double his production this season from all three seasons combined.

Along with Thompson on the third-team list is the cornerback Jones. A native of Clarksdale, Jones emerged this season as one of the highest graded corners in the SEC and became a lockdown defender on his side of the field. As a redshirt freshman, Jones has 30 tackles with 11 pass deflection and two interceptions on the year.

Jones has emerged as one of the top corners in this year’s NFL Draft and has garnered some day one buzz nationally. He has not announced his intentions for the 2026 season and plans to play in State’s bowl game.

For Lockhart, it was a strong close to his first year in the SEC. Lockhart worked his way into earning starter reps for the Bulldogs by the end of the season and had 33 tackles on the year. He had a season-high six tackles each against Tennessee and Texas A&M.

A product of Winona High School, Lockhart was committed to the Bulldogs through most of his senior season before flipping to Ole Miss on signing day. By the end of the day, however, he was announced as a State signee in a dramatic finish to his recruitment. He now prepares for year two with new defensive coordinator Zach Arnett and linebackers coach Matt Brock, both of which recruited him during their time in Starkville.

The Bulldogs are preparing to play in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl in Charlotte, NC., on January 2. State will take on Wake Forest in a surprising bowl selection following a 5-7 regular season.
