Year two of the Jeff Lebby era has arrived and the Mississippi State coach is back to work.

After a disappointing first season, the coach and his staff are doing what they can to get things back on track in Starkville. The players on the field will be the difference for State this season if they are to make a return and we’re going to discuss every single one of them over the course of the next few months.

As we do every year, we’re counting down 100 days until State’s first game at Southern Miss in Hattiesburg on August 30. Over this period of time, we’ll breakdown every scholarship player on the roster, look back at great moments in MSU history and even talk about legends that have come before the current Bulldogs.

Today, we look at a lineman heading into year two with the Bulldogs.

94 Days: No. 94, Senior DT Corey Clark

It’s been an interesting journey for Clark over the last couple of seasons, but the senior DT has a chance to finish it out strong inside the SEC.

Clark grew up in the state of Alabama and worked into a college prospect after a standout career at Minor High School. During his career at Minor, Clark racked up 147 tackles and 5.0 sacks including a 122-tackle senior year with 11.0 tackles for loss. That season earned him a scholarship with instate North Alabama and he took the opportunity.

As a freshman in 2022, Clark played in four games and had three tackles in a game against Indiana State. After just one season, Clark would transfer out and he landed at Northeast Community College in Mississippi. Playing in nine games in 2023, Clark made five tackles with two forced fumbles and had 0.5 TFL.

Clark came to a summer camp last year and worked out for David Turner and the assistant coach would be impressed with his work enough to offer him an opportunity to play for State. Clark also had picked up scholarship offers from UAB, Louisiana Tech, Coastal Carolina, Louisiana Monroe and others.

Despite being a late add to the roster, Clark would have to contribute last year due to lack of depth up front. Clark played in 10 games and had nine tackles with 1.0 TFL. We’ll see what his playing time looks like this season with added depth up front by the Bulldogs, but he should be able to take a step forward in his individual development.
