100-Day Bulldog Countdown: 84 Days - No. 84, Junior TE Emeka Iloh
Year two of the Jeff Lebby era has arrived and the Mississippi State coach is back to work.
After a disappointing first season, the coach and his staff are doing what they can to get things back on track in Starkville. The players on the field will be the difference for State this season if they are to make a return and we’re going to discuss every single one of them over the course of the next few months.
As we do every year, we’re counting down 100 days until State’s first game at Southern Miss in Hattiesburg on August 30. Over this period of time, we’ll breakdown every scholarship player on the roster, look back at great moments in MSU history and even talk about legends that have come before the current Bulldogs.
Today, we’re looking at an interesting athlete at tight end for the Bulldogs.
84 Days: No. 84, Junior TE Emeka Iloh
MSU has turned out some diamonds that went under the radar over the years and Iloh would certainly rate up there as one if the Bulldogs can find something in his game.
The former McIntosh (Ga.) standout was a defensive line prospect out of high school and landed at Coahoma Community College when the dust settles. From there, he played sparingly on the line in year one before moving to tight end last year and he began to turn some heads at that position in the summer.

Mississippi State hosted Iloh at a summer camp and tight ends coach Jon Cooper liked what he saw. He had picked up a UTSA offer and grabbed some interest from several SEC schools including Alabama, but MSU was the team that stood out to him.
Eloh committed to State last year and would enroll at State in January to get things started. His 6’9, 265-pound frame is imposing and he has other athletic attributes that make him a potential breakout player. For him to do that, it will have to be earned as Iloh hasn’t done anything to this point to get any kind of recognition in that regard.
There are some opportunities at the tight end position that could allow Iloh to get in the mix, and he got a spring in with his new team to see where he stands. The fall will be key in him getting some reps as the season begins.
