100-Day Bulldog Countdown: 58 Days - No. 58, IOL TJ Lockhart

Year two of the Jeff Lebby era has arrived and the Mississippi State coach is back to work.
After a disappointing first season, the coach and his staff are doing what they can to get things back on track in Starkville. The players on the field will be the difference for State this season if they are to make a return and we’re going to discuss every single one of them over the course of the next few months.
As we do every year, we’re counting down 100 days until State’s first game at Southern Miss in Hattiesburg on August 30. Over this period of time, we’ll breakdown every scholarship player on the roster, look back at great moments in MSU history and even talk about legends that have come before the current Bulldogs.
Today, we look at a young offensive lineman looking to cut his teeth this season.
58 Days: No. 58, Redshirt Freshman IOL TJ Lockhart
A native of Winona, Lockhart has always had a dream of playing ball in the SEC and MSU was one of his favorites growing up.
Lockhart grew to be a massive human as he stands 6’5 and 360 pounds and he would help the Tigers to history during his high school career. As a senior, Lockhart earned All-State honors in Class 3A and would help his team to the school’s first state championship with a perfect season.

The Bulldogs had come calling for Lockhart long before he hoisted the trophy and he committed to State during the spring of his junior season. He came to Starkville last season and got a chance to learn under some younger lineman with some action in the Bulldogs’ win over UMass.
After redshirting last season, Lockhart is now preparing to get some more reps this year as a redshirt freshman. He’s going to do it with two of his high school teammates as classmate LB Fatt Forrest is back for year two and the Bulldogs landed Lockhart’s brother, Tyler, in the class.
The trio of Winona stars will now try to make their mark with the Bulldogs.
