100 Day Bulldog Countdown: 4 Days - No. 4, WR Jordan Mosley and CB DeAgo Brumfield

Year two of the Jeff Lebby era has arrived and the Mississippi State coach is back to work.
After a disappointing first season, the coach and his staff are doing what they can to get things back on track in Starkville. The players on the field will be the difference for State this season if they are to make a return and we’re going to discuss every single one of them.
As we do every year, we’re counting down 100 days until State’s first game at Southern Miss in Hattiesburg on August 30. Over this period of time, we’ll breakdown every scholarship player on the roster, look back at great moments in MSU history and even talk about legends that have come before the current Bulldogs.
Today, we look at a couple of seniors hoping for a strong close to their college careers.
4 Days: No. 4, Sr. Wide Receiver Jordan Mosley
This is the final call for Mosley’s college career and the senior has been putting in the work this offseason that backs that up.
Once upon a time, Mosley took a chance on himself and went to Big Ten country to play ball; leaving his Mobile, Ala., comfort zone to play for Northwestern. Mosley was a standout, four-star wide out that played for McGill Toolen and he was an All-State honoree as a senior.
Ranked as the No. 9 player in the state of Alabama by the Composite rankings, Mosley’s offer list was strong with verbals coming in from Texas A&M, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Penn State, Oregon, Kentucky, South Carolina, Arkansas and others. He initially committed to the Volunteers but was a late signee for the Wildcats of Northwestern in the second signing period of 2021.
In year one, Mosley had a reception in three games and redshirted. In the offseason, he decided to hit the transfer portal and came back closer to home to play for the Bulldogs. The first two seasons were fairly unproductive for Mosley as he played in three games his first year in 2022 and 12 in 2023 with a combined five catches and 88 yards and a score.
Those numbers were eclipsed quickly last season as Mosley had five catches for 104 yards and a touchdown in the first game against Eastern Kentucky including a 65-yard catch and run for the first score of the season. Against Arizona State the next week, he had four more catches for 58 yards.
Mosley couldn’t stack on those big first two games, however, with only one more game of four or more receptions coming against Umass. He finished the season with 23 catches for 405 yards and three touchdowns as a lot of the passes went elsewhere following Blake Shapen’s injury.

Now that Mosley heads into his senior season, he does so with a lot of confidence in himself, but confidence is also coming from teammates and coaches. He’s been one of the more consistent receivers on the team and steadily among the top three and he’s expected to start game one against Southern Miss this week.
No. 4, Sr. Cornerback DeAgo Brumfield
From the NAIA realm to the SEC, Brumfield has put in his work to get to the top stage in college football, but he’d like to have some more stories to tell after the season concludes.
A native of Cincinnati, OH, Brumfield went flying under the radar before going to Campbellsville to play in the NAIA. He played in seven games his first year on campus in 2021 and corralled 14 tackles with three pass breakups and a forced fumble. The next season, he became more of a staple with 10 games and 48 tackles while earning Second-Team All-Conference honors with his four interceptions and two touchdowns.
The huge season earned him some interest from schools around the FBS as he would hit the transfer portal and Memphis came calling. Brumfield was a full-time starter for the Tigers and would put together a productive year in 2023 with 42 tackles, 10 pass breakups, 3.0 TFL and a forced fumble, including six tackles and a breakup against Missouri in his best game of the season.
When former defensive backs coach Matt Barnes left Memphis for Starkville, he brought Brumfield along with him to help the Bulldogs find some depth at cornerback. With expectations relatively high for his impact, he was competing for starting reps last season.
Brumfield would start in two ball games but injuries took their toll on his season. He played in just four games and made 14 tackles with two pass breakups, an interception and 0.5 TFL. As he enters his final season, Brumfield is fighting it out with junior college transfer Jett Jefferson for a starting cornerback spot. Regardless, he will factor in heavily to State’s rotation.
