Mississippi State learns SEC opponents for 2026-29 schedules

A day after Mississippi State fans learned their three regular SEC opponents for the next four seasons, the Bulldogs now know exactly what those schedules will look like over the course of that time frame.

On3’s Chris Lowe first reported on Monday that State will be playing Ole Miss, Alabama and Vanderbilt each of the next four seasons. The SEC announced a nine-game schedule for SEC teams last month and slated each team to have three regular opponents for the 2026-29 seasons, a schedule that would be reassessed after the completion of the ’29 campaign and after every four-year cycle beyond that.

Additionally, SEC teams are required to play at least one game against a non-conference Power 4 opponent.

Among the reasons determined for the selection of those three opponents was to keep traditional rivalries, competitive fairness and for geographic reasons. As for the rest of the schedule, the SEC said that every team will face the other 12 teams at least once over a two-year span with every team hosting and visiting every school for the four-year period.

For next season, the Bulldogs are set to have a schedule highlighted by welcoming in new face Oklahoma for the first time as the Sooners will come to Starkville. The Bulldogs will also play home games against Alabama, Vanderbilt, Auburn and Missouri with road trips to Ole Miss, LSU, South Carolina and Texas.
