Mississippi State-Texas October 25 game time announced

Mississippi State will be making its return to Davis Wade Stadium on October 25 against No. 21 Texas and it will be the first home game for the Bulldogs in four weeks.
Now fans know what to expect on that game, at least an idea, as the SEC announced an afternoon designation for next Saturday. The game will take place at either 2:30 p.m. or 3:15 p.m. with the final decision coming after this weekend’s slate of games. The game will be on either ESPN or SEC Network.
The Longhorns (4-2, 1-1 SEC) will be making their first trip to Starkville since the 1991. Texas has a 3-2 record against State all-time with the Bulldogs winning 13-6 in Starkville during Jackie Sherrill’s first season in 1991 and 28-10 the following year in Austin in ’92. Last season, the Longhorns won 35-13 in Austin in the first matchup between the two teams in the SEC.
Prior to Texas’ arrival in the conference, the Longhorns and Bulldogs last met in the Cotton Bowl during the 1998 season as Heisman Trophy winner Ricky Williams and Texas ran wild in a 38-11 blowout in Dallas. The Bulldogs made that Cotton Bowl after winning the SEC West and coming up just short in the SEC Championship game against eventual National Champion Tennessee.

This year’s Longhorn team has been up and down in the early stage of the season. Arch Manning came into the season with extremely high expectations but Texas is one loss away from likely being out of the College Football Playoff picture.
Steve Sarkisian’s team opened the season with a 14-7 loss to Ohio State and loss 29-21 to Florida on the road two weeks ago. They did fight back last week as they knocked off arch rival Oklahoma in the Red River Rivalry with a 23-6 win and have a chance to move to 5-2 on the season with a road game at Kentucky on Saturday night.
The Bulldogs (4-2, 0-2 SEC) are coming off of back-to-back losses to top 15 teams in Tennessee and Texas A&M and had a bye week this past week to regroup and recharge. State heads to Florida this weekend for a massive game against the Gators at 3:15 p.m. (SEC Network) as the Bulldogs hope to get back on track and closer to bowl eligibility.
