Mississippi State adds Nigerian post player Favour Onyinye Nwaedozi

Sam Purcell and Mississippi State are hoping to strike gold in the international waters for the second year in a row.
A season after Purcell and his staff landed Kenyan star center Madina Okot, the Bulldogs have now landed Nigerian post player Favour Onyinye Nwaedozi. The 6’3 standout has been playing the last several years in Japan.
After beginning her life and basketball career in her home country of Nigeria, Nwaedozi took in her high school basketball career in Japan and competed with some of the best in the country. She has spent the last two years playing college ball in Japan at Mukogawa Women’s University but is looking for a new challenge in the states.
A season ago, Purcell and the Bulldog staff got a steal in Okot and she became a force inside the SEC in her first year. Okot averaged 11.3 points and 9.6 rebounds with 12 double-doubles. Unfortunately for the Bulldogs, her play alerted the rest of the SEC and she entered the transfer portal, landing at National Champion Runners Up South Carolina.
