Neumann baseball player Ryder Woodson is congratulated after hitting a home run during his game Wednesday, April 3, 2024. St. John Neumann Catholic High School hosted Venice High School for a boys baseball showdown in Naples. Venice walked away with the victory with a final score of 7-5.

Mississippi State’s work in the transfer portal continued on Wednesday as Diamond Dogs head coach Brian O’Connor added former N.C. State transfer infielder Ryder Woodson. Overall, Woodson becomes the sixth transfer addition for the Diamond Dogs this offseason.

This past season Woodson appeared in 23 games and started five games, with most of those starts coming in the postseason at the Auburn Regional. Woodson played multiple spots on the infield and also in the outfield for the Wolfpack, who reached the finals of the Auburn Regional earlier this month.

The 6-foot-2 and 182-pound Woodson batted .333 in 30 at-bats as a freshman this season. The Maples, Fla., native produced 10 hits, three doubles, three homer runs and 12 RBIs at the plate. All of Woodson’s home runs came in the Auburn Regional, including a pair of homers against Stetson with one being a grand slam.

In the Auburn Regional, Woodson was 5 of 14 with three home runs, two doubles and eight RBIs.
