After struggles throughout last season, Mississippi State’s defensive line has displayed steady improvements this season. Most of that is due to added talent from the transfer portal but the Bulldogs have a few veterans that have been solid this year, including junior Trevion Williams.

That group has constantly produced more pressure this season and of late, they’ve collected more sacks, including eight combined sacks in the previous two games. Earlier this week, Williams met with the media to discuss the Georgia game and the improvements of the defensive side of the ball:

Q: It’s obviously been a different year for the defense. How do you feel like you’re playing right now?
Williams
: I like how I’m playing and I like how we’re playing. But I feel like I’ve got a lot more to put out. We’ve got a lot more games left to play. So I got time left to get right and step up.

Q: Arkansas had their way with the defense in the first three quarters. What changed for y’all in the fourth quarter to get those big stops?
Williams: We just had to lock in on the small details that we lacked throughout the first three quarters. We had to make adjustments at halftime. It wasn’t really just a big shift. It was just minor details that we had to pay attention to and lock in on.

Q: What are your early thoughts about playing back on home Saturday against Georgia?
Williams
: It’s just great to play at home, especially an early game. Having Georgia come in, that’s a big one. But just treat it like any other game and prepare the same. Just come ready to play. They are a Top 5 team in the country so we got to get ready to play and prepare no different.

Q: Home or away, what is the 11 a.m. kickoff like for the players?
Williams
: At home it’s just an early start. We’re already here. We all get up and get adjusted. As versus being the visiting team for an 11 a.m. game, it can be a little shaky depending on how they wake up and prepare for it.

Q: After last year’s 2-10 season, what would it mean for this program to get back to a bowl game?
Williams
: It was mean a lot. Last year with the season that we had and coming back this season, we are having a much better season. A bowl game would be much needed.

Q: How much of a boost was it for the team to finally win one in the fourth quarter?
Williams
: It felt good. Winning, as you know, we needed that win. It was a big win for us and it felt great. We just got to keep stacking it and get some more wins.
