Brian O’Connor and Mississippi State stayed hot on the recruiting trail on Monday.

After landing top 15 SS Rocco Maniscalco for the 2026 class, O’Connor got another big-time commitment in the form of 2026 Memphis catcher Will Brick. Like Maniscalco, Brick was originally a member of the 2027 class but reclassified this month and will now graduate a year early. The 6’2, 190-pounder is arguably the top catcher in the signing class and recently took a visit to Starkville that would wrap him in maroon and white.

In the draft class, Brick is considered a top 50 prospect in Baseball America’s latest projections.

Brick has the early makings of a superstar with pop at the plate and behind it. According to Prep Baseball Report, he averages a 1.76 pop time defensively with an average exit velocity of 96.9 mph at the plate and a max of 109 mph at a recent All-American showcase in Miami. PBR rated him as the No. 1 catcher nationally due to his profile and production.

In addition to his early All-American accolades, Brick was a member of the prestigious Team USA 18U that would take the World Championship against Japan this month. Brick was named to the All-World team after batting .333 during the World Cup with three doubles and a triple.

Named to the Perfect Game All-American with fellow State commit Sullivan Reed of the ’27 class, Brick is already emerging on the national stage as he heads into his senior season with Christian Brothers. Now, he’ll do it with an M over S attached to his name as he becomes the 14th commitment of the class for O’Connor and his Bulldog staff.

O’Connor is putting together some major wins on the recruiting trail for the next two recruiting classes. The Diamond Dawgs added former Virginia commitments C Hunter Strohm, SS Noah Danza, RHP Daniel Nienaber, OF Michael Hanna and SS Zach Geertsma to the ’26 class along with Meridian CC C Harlin Hovater and Maniscalco.

The coach and his staff have also begun to build one of the best ’27 classes in the country with six of the seven players ranked inside Perfect Game’s top 100. Reed is joined in that class by Petal’s Fischer Howell, OF Deuce Jenkins, C Carson Kinnick, OF Devlin Daniel, LHP Connor Salerno and OF/LHP Kyler Meccage.
