A letter from Stu Coman to The Wolfpacker subscribers

by:Stu Coman11/03/21

I wish we could have given you more notice about The Wolfpacker’s move from Rivals to On3, but our contract prohibited us from announcing the change before it actually happened.

We decided to make the switch after seeing Shannon Terry’s vision for the On3 network — a ground-breaking player database; no ads for annual subscribers; the best customer service in the market; reliable, state-of-the-art technology; and much more.

Shannon took over a bankrupt Rivals in 2001 and built it into the premier college sports team network on the web, before selling it to Yahoo. He then started 247Sports from scratch in 2010. Ten years later it was over three times larger than Rivals.

Shannon is the Steve Jobs of college sports team networks. On3 will be his iPhone, and we wanted to be part of it.

Our staff at The Wolfpacker is headed by Matt Carter, a 17-year plus veteran on the NC State beat, and includes Ryan Tice and his unmatched coverage of the wrestling program, Wolfpack historian Tim Peeler and reporter Justin Williams. All four are NC State grads with a passion for the Wolfpack.

We are also excited to announce that Sammy Batten, the longtime and recently retired sportswriter for the Fayetteville Observer, will be assisting Matt in our coverage of NC State football recruiting. Sammy did a great job of covering in-state football recruiting during his 31 years at the Observer and will be a big asset to the site.

Former PFF analyst T. Frank Carr will be providing expert football analysis to The Wolfpacker. We have other additions in the works and will keep you posted.

Our move creates another option for Wolfpack fans. We have been publishing The Wolfpacker magazine for 41 years and TheWolfpacker.com for over 20 years. We will continue to work very hard to keep you as a subscriber by making this site a fun and informative source on NC State sports.
