NC State men’s basketball landed its first transfer portal commitment of the 2024 cycle Thursday afternoon. Former Louisville forward Brandon Huntley-Hatfield is joining the Wolfpack after officially visited the program last weekend.

Huntley-Hatfield averaged 12.9 points and 8.4 rebounds per game for Louisville during the 2023-2024 season. He started all 32 games for the Cardinals, knocking down an incredibly efficient 56.7 percent of his shots.

The 6-10, 240-pound forward also has the ability to extend his range outside of the paint, knocking down 9 of 21 threes as a junior.

He announced his commitment on social media. NC State was his only public official visit, and the Wolfpack quickly wrapped up his recruitment. Huntley-Hatfield has 1 season of eligibility remaining.

During his time in the portal, he scheduled trips to Indiana and Pittsburgh but canceled those trips. The forward previously dropped a top schools list that included the Panthers, the Pack, UConn and Louisville.

Tennessee signed him out of high school as the No. 29 recruit in the country in the 2021 clas. He also held offers from Kentucky, Auburn, Kansas and many others.

Huntley-Hatfield transferred to Louisville after his freshman year and spent the past two years with the Cardinals. The forward has increased his points and rebounds production per game in each of his three college seasons.

The rising senior has one year of eligibility remaining. If he chooses the Wolfpack, he would be the likely replacement for DJ Burns, teaming up with Mohamed Diarra and Ben Middlebrooks in a talented frontcourt rotation. Burns was his host during his official visit. Per a source, he played a significant role in Huntley-Hatfield’s recruitment.

Wolfpack stars DJ Horne, Casey Morsell and Burns will both run out of eligibility after this season. Guard LJ Thomas also hit the portal. NC State is bringing in Paul McNeil Jr. and Trey Parker as freshmen, so Huntley-Hatfield’s transfer commitment gives the Pack 1 scholarship remaining for the 2024-2025 season, pending any more attrition.
