NC State’s transfer portal momentum continued _ as former Louisville guard Mike James committed to the Wolfpack, he announced on social media.

James, a 6-foot-5, 200-pound guard, spent the past three seasons with the Cardinals and he has two years of eligibility remaining. He started the last 64 games at Louisville after recovering from a torn left Achilles tendon during his freshman season.

The Orlando, Fla., native averaged 12.6 points with 5.0 rebounds and 1.5 assists this past season at Louisville. He played in 33.3 minutes a night while shooting 39.6% from the floor, including 34% from beyond the arc.

James logged a career-best 26 points with five made triples in 39 minutes at Miami on Jan. 10, leading the Cardinals to their first ACC road win of the season.

In two games against NC State this past season, James scored 20 points on 6-for-12 shooting in the regular season meeting and 6 points on 2-for-4 shooting in the ACC Tournament contest.

James improved on his redshirt freshman year at Louisville, a campaign in which he averaged 10.1 points with 3.3 rebounds on 45.3% shooting from the field.

Before he arrived at Louisville, James averaged 19.4 points, 10.8 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.2 blocked shots per game at Orlando (Fla.) Oak Ridge High. He logged a 58% clip from the field, including a 44% three-point clip during his senior year.

NC State recruited James out of high school before he elected to choose Louisville. He also included Alabama, Arkansas and Texas A&M within his top schools.

The Wolfpack has one open scholarship available for the 2024-25 season. NC State gained transfer portal commitments from Louisville forward Brandon Huntley-Hatfield and Georgetown guard Dontrez Styles in the past month.
