NC State baseball picked up one of its highest-impact transfer additions as Tennessee transfer power hitter Dalton Bargo pledged to the Wolfpack on Thursday, TheWolfpacker.com can confirm.

Bargo, who has one year of eligibility remaining, hit .272 with 14 doubles, a triple, 14 home runs and 40 RBI this past season with the Volunteers.

The Omaha, Neb., native unleashed his most powerful season at the plate this past spring with career-high marks in doubles, home runs and RBI. He nearly doubled his career-best homers mark this past season, eclipsing eight from the 2024 campaign.

Bargo hit .280 with five doubles, eight home runs and 27 RBI in the 2024 season, his first at Tennessee. Prior to his sophomore campaign, the versatile player hit .279 with six doubles, three triples, five home runs and 23 RBI as a freshman designated hitter at Missouri in 2023.

Before his illustrious collegiate career began, Bargo was the No. 1 catcher and No. 2 overall prospect in Nebraska’s 2022 recruiting class, according to Perfect Game. He hit just under .500 with 18 doubles and two home runs as a senior at Omaha (Neb.) Westside High. Additionally, Bargo was a prep preseason All-America selection by Perfect Game in 2021 and 2022.

Bargo’s bat is a much-needed addition to NC State’s lineup for next spring. He’s a likely candidate to play in left field after Josh Hogue signed with the Miami Marlins as a 15th-round selection, while Bargo could also appear at designated hitter as well.

Bargo is the Wolfpack’s fifth transfer portal addition of the offseason, joining right-handed pitchers Collins Black (Duke) and Ryder Garino (South Carolina), and infielders Mikey Ryan (LSU) and Wyatt Peifer (JMU).
