NC State’s Board of Trustees approved a new contract for director of athletics Boo Corrigan, the university announced Friday afternoon. His new deal runs until July 2029.

Corrigan has been working in his current role since 2019 and is now set to remain in that position until at least the final year of this decade. During his tenure, the Pack has won 16 ACC team championships. Per the GoPack.com press release, that’s more than any other school in the conference.

“I appreciate Chancellor Woodson and the Board of Trustees for their continued trust and support and to our coaches, staff and student-athletes who work tirelessly every day to strengthen our Pack,” said Corrigan said in a press release.

In 2022, he was 1 of 4 recipients of the Cushman & Wakefield Athletics Director of the Year Award. Corrigan also recently wrapped up his two-year term as the College Football Playoff Committee Chair.

“Under Boo’s outstanding leadership, NC State Athletics is experiencing new levels of competitive, academic and financial success,” NC State chancellor Randy Woodson said in a press release. “We are fortunate to have such an experienced and well-respected leader to help us navigate through the ever-changing landscape of college athletics.”

Corrigan has been at the forefront of the Wolfpack athletic department as it adapts to the age of NIL and the transfer portal. He helped allocate the funds for an expanded football recruiting staff, consistent raises for star defensive coordinator Tony Gibson and more.

While in Raleigh, he has also led the program through facility improvements to the Murphy Center, the Case Academic Center, the women’s basketball locker room, the football weight room and the new videoboard at Carter-Finley Stadium.

Before taking his current job with the Pack in 2019, Corrigan was the atheltic director at Army, and he also worked with Duke and Florida State at different points of his career.

Earlier this year, Yahoo Sports reporter Ross Dellenger reported that the Wolfpack athletic director was a candidate for the same position at Ohio State.

“I was kind of following the behind the scenes of the search, especially the last couple weeks, and early on a name emerged: Boo Corrigan at NC State,” Dellenger said on the College Football Inquirer podcast. “There was some interest there, and for a while I actually thought that was going to happen. And then it wasn’t.”

For the first time in athletic department history, NC State has finished in the Learfield Directors’ Cup top 25 for three-consecutive years.
