NC State football’s spring practice is officially underway. With more than 30 newcomers arriving in January, the new-look Wolfpack went through winter workouts and built bonds with each other before hitting the field Tuesday.

With new quarterbacks throwing to new receivers, position changes across the defense and a few early enrollee freshmen to watch, this is going to be one of the most exciting spring practices in recent memories.

The Wolfpacker Show taped another episode Wednesday to recap the latest news and notes around NC State football, Tuesday’s press conferences with head coach Dave Doeren, defensive lineman Davin Vann, cornerback Corey Coley Jr., quarterback Grayson McCall, linebacker Sean Brown and wide receiver Dacari Collins.

Media members attended the initial period of the first day, so hosts Ethan McDowell and Noah Fleischman also both took notes on their takeaways from the event.

In this episode, the hosts discussed:

*** Their initial observations from spring practice. While the 2023 football season ended just a couple of months ago, they are psyched to see the Wolfpack back on the field.

*** Ethan and Noah broke down the practice by position. As a disclaimer, this was the first workout of the spring and rep distribution means very little at this point. Starting with the quarterbacks, they talked about true freshman Cedrick Bailey Jr. and his sky-high potential with the Wolfpack. Offensively, the hosts discussed the new faces in both the wide receiver and running back rooms, while also bringing up a couple of missing players along the offensive line.

*** Noah spent most of the practice watching the defense, so he shared who was working in the starting spots at defensive line and linebacker. Brown, a former safety, has officially moved safety to linebacker, and he spoke with the media after practice to talk about why that move was the best choice for him personally.

*** After discussing the press conferences, which focused on building team chemistry on and off the field, the hosts took a quick break to thank our sponsor the Gametime App.

*** Then, Ethan and Noah recapped discouraging weeks for NC State men’s and women’s basketball, outlining why the sky is not falling yet for the latter squad.

*** To wrap up the show, they shouted out the Wolfpack gymnastics and softball teams for their recent success.
