With the bases loaded, nobody out and a 4-4 tie, Nebraska baseball’s matchup with Creighton is suspended due to lightning in the area. It is TBD if the game will resume on May 9th when the Huskers play the Bluejays in Omaha.

The Big Red had built up momentum heading into the bottom of the seventh inning. Cole Evans drove in the tying run in the bottom of the sixth, and NU loaded the bases in the seventh. After a pitching change from Creighton, the umpires called the game before he threw a pitch.

Game Recap

The matchup started with Kyle Perry on the mound for Nebraska. The lefty was dealing early on. After giving up a leadoff walk, Perry retired the next three batters and kept the scoreboard clean. The second inning was a similar story as he allowed a double, but got out of the jam with no damage done.

The third inning is when Creighton got to Perry as Andrew Meggs hit a two-run shot to left. After the Bluejays failed to score any more runs in the third, they added another in the fourth to make it 3-0.

Nebraska answered quickly in the bottom half of the fourth as Casey Burnham hit a solo homer. The following inning, after Creighton scored a run to make it 4-1, Brice Matthews hit a moonshot over the left field wall. That two-run homer put Nebraska within one.

Efry Cervantes hit a double with two outs in the sixth inning and Cole Evans drove him in to tie this game at four apiece.

With all the momentum headed in the Huskers’ direction, they loaded the bases in the bottom of the seventh. With nobody out and the bases juiced, Creighton made a pitching change. Before that new pitcher even threw a pitch there was a strike of lightning that saw this game get suspended.
