Four-Star, In-State '27 RB Amir Brown Commits to UNC

Four-star 2027 running back Amir Brown announced his commitment to North Carolina on Sunday.
“Everything about the program and the people there speaks for itself,” Brown told Inside Carolina following his commitment. “It’s just hard to explain because it’s a raw feeling right now [with] me just committing. They always show love. And Coach [Natrone] Means always made me a priority.”
UNC’s prior staff offered Brown, a 5-foot-11, 200-pounder from Rolesville (N.C.) High, over a year ago. He also holds offers from Florida State, Notre Dame, Ohio State, and Penn State.
Since Bill Belichick took office, Brown has made a handful of trips to UNC.
For the past couple of weeks, Brown has contemplated committing with his parents and football coaches. He pulled the trigger during his weekly phone conversation with Means, UNC’s running backs coach, and Belichick.
“It just felt like the right decision and the right time to do it,” Brown said. “I love the recruiting process, but I might as well just go ahead and let everybody know I’m home now.”

Starting with the nationally televised opener against TCU, Brown said he intends to be at most of UNC’s home games this fall.
Brown began his high school career across Wake County at Raleigh (N.C.) Cardinal Gibbons High. There, he carried the ball 85 times for 472 yards and four touchdowns as a freshman. Following that season, he spent the spring at Raleigh (N.C.) Millbrook High before transferring to Rolesville High in time for the 2024 season. While playing behind a senior, Brown rushed for 612 yards and 11 touchdowns on 93 carries (6.6-yard average). He also finished fourth in receiving (15 catches for 269 yards and two scores).
“If you’re looking at a downhill guy, a guy who can make you miss in space, a guy who can catch the ball in the flats and from the slot, that’s Amir,” Rainer Rackley Rolesville High’s third-year head coach said. “He passes the ‘eyeball test,’ but don’t just look at his size, turn on his film [and] see what he really can do. Yeah, he’s a big body at running back, but what separates him is how he gets it done off the field and that translates on the field with his work ethic.”
Brown is UNC’s second commitment of the 2027 class, joining Calif. wide receiver Skylar Robinson.
