CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — “It’s back to the drawing board,” UNC wideout Jordan Shipp told reporters on Saturday afternoon following yet another lopsided loss. The Tar Heels proved to be just what the doctor ordered for the also-struggling Clemson Tigers, as 28 first-quarter points jump-started Dabo Swinney’s squad to a 38-10 victory in which the Tar Heels failed to look competitive.

Shipp, as well as quarterback Max Johnson, and defensive back Jaiden Patterson spoke to the media following Saturday’s blowout loss. Watch those complete interviews below and read some noteworthy excerpts…

Jordan Shipp

“Back to the drawing board. Back to work, back here tomorrow. The game’s behind us already, time to go back to work…

“It doesn’t really matter who’s in the stands, all that matters is what we got in the locker room…

“We spent some time talking to Coach Galloway. That’s the coach that recruited us here. It’s good to see a familiar face like that, and be able to talk to him. You go from him being your coach every day to now, we can’t talk to him because he’s coaching somewhere else, so it’s against the rules. Good to just be able to talk to him and spend some time with him.”

Max Johnson

“When you think of success, you think of wins, so that’s our goal. Our goal is to win each and every single week. We have a bye week coming up again, which will be good to have, just to kind of reset again. Get our minds right, focus on the next opponent and yeah, be ready to go…

“I kind of found out (I was starting) later in the week… Didn’t really know the whole time and then towards the end of the week, kind of figured it out and I knew I was gonna get the nod, was locked in and ready to go…

“Your mind should always be ready. You’re working eight months of the whole year to get to fall to play football. You always stay ready to play the game. It doesn’t matter what happened in the past, of course it’s frustrating what happened. But you have to look forward. If you look back you get caught up in the past, you’ve got to look to the future.”

Jaiden Patterson

“I wouldn’t say it’s a rebuild. We’ve still got seven more games, all ACC play, so I’m pretty confident in our team. We’re gonna work during this bye week and keep playing…

“We’ve just got to work. We’ve got to do our jobs and keep playing. It’s a lot more football to play, so we’ve got a lot more things to do.”
