Notre Dame currently has 23 commitments in its 2023 class, a group that ranks No. 4 according to the On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings. Alabama, Georgia and Ohio State are in front of the Irish, respectively.

Notre Dame is looking to add more offensive firepower before National Signing Day in December, and there are two names trending towards the Irish according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM).

Hayward (Calif.) Tennyson’s Taeshaun Lyons, the No. 355 overall prospect and No. 50 wide receiver per the 2023 On3 Consensus, picked up an offer from Notre Dame Aug. 9, and Blue & Gold logged a prediction for him to eventually choose the Irish the following day.

Other programs won’t let up on the four-star talent, though. Michigan State offered Lyons on Monday. More college staffs are keeping an eye on Lyons for a potential offer if he has a strong start to his senior season. He scored three touchdowns last Friday, so it seems that more schools will jump in the mix.

According to the On3 RPM, the Irish are in the lead at 97.5 percent. Even with other programs turning up the heat on Lyons, Notre Dame should still be considered the favorite for him.

In the video above, Blue & Gold’s Mike Singer discusses a few Irish recruiting topics, including Lyons and St. Louis Christian Brothers’ Jeremiyah Love.

Ranked as the No. 63 overall prospect and No. 5 running back per the 2023 On3 Consensus, Love is another prospect who the staff covets.

Love took official visits to Texas A&M June 3, Michigan June 10, Notre Dame June 17 and Alabama June 24. But according to the On3 RPM, it’s Notre Dame that is considered out in front for him at 90.5 percent. Blue & Gold also has a pick in for the Irish to land the four-star playmaker.

On3 scouting profile for Love

One of the most explosive and dynamic backs in the 2023 cycle. Has a solid build for the position at 5-foot-11, 188 pounds. Ran 10.76 in the 100 meters and jumped a 22’01” long jump as a sophomore in 2021. Backed that up on the camp circuit in the spring prior to his senior year with an electronically-timed 4.48 second 40-yard dash to go with a 35-inch vertical as well as a 9’11” broad jump. The speed and athleticism transfers over to the field on Friday nights. Led his team to a state championship as a junior and can score any time he touches the ball. Has true home run speed. Can make defenders whiff in a phone booth with his ability to change direction, as well. Possesses loose hips and plays with excellent pad level when working between the tackles. Rushed for 996 yards and 14 touchdowns on just 95 rushes as a junior. Efficient and hits big plays but has not carried the load of some of his highly-rated peers. Has the athleticism to play other spots, like defensive back but the big-play ability at running back points to one of the higher ceilings at the position among backs in the 2023 cycle.
