On300 CB Trystan Haynes and his family excited to visit Notre Dame

Midwest City (Okla.) Carl Albert On300 cornerback Trystan Haynes is one of the top prospects visiting Notre Dame this weekend as head coach Marcus Freeman and the Irish put the finishing touches on one of the nation’s best recruiting classes.

The 6-foot-2, 160-pound Haynes is one of the Irish’s favorites as they hit the stretch run for them, already holding 19 verbals to date. ND is battling Oklahoma, Miami and Texas A&M, with Alabama also coming into the picture recently.

“Just the fact it’s Notre Dame,” Haynes father Shaun said. “We’re excited about seeing it and it’s a school he’s really considering going to. We’re excited to get down there and check everything out.”

Notre Dame has a lot of things Haynes and his family are looking for. This will be their first time seeing everything in person.

“It’s the school itself,” the elder Haynes said. “The academics, the football history, Notre Dame comes with a level of oh man it’s Notre Dame. Past that it’s a good football program. Coach Freeman, good guy. Then we have some family down there.

“I would say right now for Trystan he’s keeping everything open, but it’s a school he’s really considering going to and not throwing a name on the list for the accolades.”

Oklahoma is the On3 RPM leader for Haynes at this point in the process. This is the last scheduled visit of the spring with officials set for Miami the first weekend of June, Texas A&M the second weekend, Notre Dame is the third weekend and the Sooners get the last trip the weekend of June 21.

“I would definitely say Oklahoma made an impact and he likes the school and likes all the coaches,” Shaun said. “It’s by far the school we’ve been to the most living in Oklahoma. They definitely impressed him but right now he’s in the process of figuring everything out.”

The Haynes talked about what his son is looking for in a school.

“I think just for us as a family, relationships, like the schools that he knows and is familiar with, the coaches and trust with the coaches,” Shaun explained. “We narrowed it down to these schools, his official visits are all good schools, all pretty good programs. Comes down to relationships and where he feels the most comfortable.”
