The San Francisco 49ers worked out former Notre Dame quarterback Jack Coan on Wednesday, along with at least two receivers. Coan’s workout was first reported by KPRC 2 Houston’s Aaron Wilson.

After spending four years at Wisconsin, Coan started for the Fighting Irish in 2021. He went 11-2, including a loss in the Fiesta Bowl to Oklahoma State, and finished the season with 3150 passing yards, 25 touchdowns and seven interceptions.

Coan signed with the Indianapolis Colts after going undrafted in the 2022 NFL Draft, but he was waived before the season. He started seven games for the San Antonio Brahmas of the XFL, throwing for 1,403 yards on 150 attempts (5.8 yards per attempt), six touchdowns and six interceptions.

The 49ers already have four quarterbacks on their roster: Brock Purdy, Trey Lance, Sam Darnold and Brandon Allen.
