Newsstand: Notre Dame offers son of Irish legend Bryant Young

Notre Dame team captain, 1993 All-American and Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2022 addition Bryant Young was back in South Bend over the weekend.
His son, Bryce, participated in Notre Dame’s Sunday Night Football camp. And following the camp, the 6-4, 215-pounder tweeted out that he received an offer from the Irish during a conversation with head coach Marcus Freeman.
Young went into the day without a single scholarship offer in hand and ended with one from Notre Dame. The Fighting Irish are very rarely the first school to offer a player, which goes to show how impressive of a performance Young had at Notre Dame’s camp.
Young plays both wide receiver and outside linebacker at Charlotte (N.C.) Christian. He worked out with defensive line coach Al Washington during the camp.

The elder Young became Notre Dame’s 14th player to be tabbed for the Pro Football Hall of Fame, tying the Irish with the most selections of any school in the country.

Quote of the day
“He’s been very consistent throughout this whole process … Before he was [named] the head coach, I guessed that he would be a head coach somewhere. I didn’t know that it would be at Notre Dame. He’ll succeed because he has the ability to recruit and knows the X’s and O’s.
“All of his players respect him and he’s relatable to them. They feel like his door is always open for them to talk to him in any fashion. His players want to play for him and win for him.”
— Five-star safety Caleb Downs on Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman
