Class of 2025 defensive back Ivan Taylor will be announcing his commitment this Friday, Dec. 1 at 2:30 p.m. ET at West Orange High School in Winter Garden, Fla.

Florida State, Notre Dame, Tennessee and Wisconsin are the teams to watch down the stretch for the four-star prospect, as he’s visited each program at least once. His most recent recruiting visit was to South Bend Nov. 18 for the Wake Forest game.

The 5-11, 163-pounder ranks as the nation’s No. 98 overall prospect and No. 10 safety according to the 2025 On3 Industry Ranking. On3’s own ranking lists him as the No. 172 recruit and No. 15 safety in America.

During his 10-game junior season, Taylor totaled 50 tackles (6 for loss), 1 interception and 3 forced fumbles. He’s recorded 135 tackles and 5 interceptions during his high school career.

In addition to Notre Dame, 13 other Power Five programs have offered Taylor. He is also the son of former Pittsburgh Steelers defensive back Ike Taylor. The elder Taylor played in the NFL from 2003-14 and is a two-time Super Bowl champion.

According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM), Notre Dame is the heavy favorite to land Taylor.

Ivan Taylor reviews latest Notre Dame visit

Notre Dame had a handful of notable commitments, intriguing underclassmen who could become future targets and even some potential preferred walk-on candidates in the 2024 on campus when the Irish hosted Wake Forest.

But in terms of uncommitted, offered targets, there was one player on campus — Winter Garden (Fla.) West Orange class of 2025 defensive back Ivan Taylor.

It was Taylor’s fourth overall visit to South Bend. He made two trips to campus over the summer, and visit No. 3 occurred at the end of October when the Irish blasted Pittsburgh.

When Taylor spoke with Blue & Gold after the Oct. 28 trip, he mentioned that he wanted to visit USC and Wisconsin, but he had to mention another school he hoped to see again.

“Probably those two and then go from there,” Taylor said. “Really, I want to come back to Notre Dame. That’s where I’m liking it right now.”

And return to Notre Dame he did. Taylor had another enjoyable experience at Notre Dame and saw the Irish blast the Demon Deacons.

“It was a great, great time,” said Taylor. “I had awesome talks with the coaching staff — Coach Chad [Bowden], Coach [Chris] O’Leary and Coach [Marcus] Freeman. It’s always a great experience to be there. The environment there is just a great vibe.

“It was a great game,” he said. “Notre Dame started a little slow but got it rolling in the second half.

“It’s always nice to get up there. And I loved the weather. It’s different from Florida where it’s always hot.”
