Notre Dame class of 2026 commit Noah Grubbs is one of the most battle-tested high school quarterbacks you’ll ever see.

He took over as Lake Mary (Fla.) High’s quarterback in Week 3 of his freshman season and has started every game since. You read that correctly — he’s never missed a game due to injury. Grubbs may have never even come out for a down, other than staying on the sideline during a blowout.

During his first three high school seasons, Grubbs played in 10 playoff games at one of the highest classifications in the Sunshine State. He won seven of those games, including four last season, leading Lake Mary to a 7A state championship game appearance. The Rams lost to Venice (Fla.) High in the contest.

That’s all in the past, though, as the four-star signal-caller is focused on the present.

“The motto is to go 1-0 every week,” Grubbs told Blue & Gold on Friday night.

Lake Mary went 1-0 on Nov. 14, giving Grubbs his eighth career playoff win. With a second-half running clock going, the Rams won 42-14 over Oviedo (Fla.) Hagerty.

Grubbs was fantastic on the evening. He completed 17 of his 22 attempts for 229 yards with 6 touchdowns.

Lake Mary will host Port Orange (Fla.) Spruce Creek (9-3) in the second round of the playoffs.

“We knew they were going to throw everything at us and we needed to play clean in all three phases of the game,” Grubbs said about the win over Hagerty. “And we played our style of game. We have good momentum going into our next game against Spruce Creek.”

Blue & Gold was at Lake Mary for the contest, and it was simply an easy night for the Notre Dame pledge. He was efficient in the pocket and made plays outside of it, buying more time for him to find his receivers downfield. Grubbs also looked impressive in the play-action game from under center, something he’s rarely done.

“They changed some things up from when we played them the first time,” continued Grubbs, who threw six touchdowns in a regular season blowout win against Hagerty in September. “They played more zone in our first game but showed more man tonight. I was just taking what they were giving me.”

Grubbs has a full command of the Lake Mary offense, and one of the biggest strides he’s made as a quarterback is getting the unit into good situations pre-snap. As a junior, he began changing protections on the fly pre-snap, and he’s only added more to his arsenal since.

“I have a lot of freedom thanks to Coach [Adam] Donnelly and the offensive staff,” he said. “If I see something, I can check out.”

Grubbs, the No. 285 overall prospect and No. 22 quarterback in America according to the 2026 Rivals Industry Ranking, committed to the Fighting Irish in June of 2024. He’s been rock solid with his pledge for the duration of it and will enroll at the university in January.

He’s visited Notre Dame 12 times during his recruitment, with the first trip occurring in June of 2023 and the most recent one being for the USC game last month.

“It was great being up there with all of the other commits,” he said. “We have a great family bond. I can’t wait to see them in January. I’m really close with all of those guys.”
