Newsstand: Notre Dame assistant coach listed as name to watch for Georgia Tech opening
ESPN senior writer Pete Thamel is well known as one of the most trusted news-breaking sources in the college football space.
Often times when there’s an FBS head coach opening, Thamel will fire out names to watch when the search is in its preliminary stages. This was the case Monday afternoon as Thamel tweeted out 17 names to keep an eye on for the Georgia Tech opening, as the Yellow Jackets moved on from Geoff Colins.
Interestingly enough, Thamel included Notre Dame defensive coordinator Al Golden on the list. Below is the full group.

Golden was a head coach at Temple (2006-10) and Miami (2011-15) before spending the past six seasons as an assistant in the NFL. He joined Notre Dame’s staff in February.
