Tim Hyde on potential Chris Tyree move to wide receiver

“I was not surprised because it’s always been hinted at and mentioned. Even last year it felt like it was going to happen, but [Logan] Diggs got hurt in the spring game, and it was assumed he’d be out the first month of the season, so they had to have Tyree at running back. Diggs came back sooner than expected, and then [Tyler] Buchner gets hurt, and all of the sudden it’s, ‘We’re going to stay in 12 personnel.’ By all accounts, [Michael] Mayer was your third wide receiver — your slot and guy you move around.

“That’s how the offense evolved last year. So for this year — start fresh, you have a bunch of healthy running backs, and Marcus Freeman said that Jadarian Price will get a lot of work in this spring. He won’t be in 11-on-11 action, but Freeman’s positivity on Price’s health was good to hear.

“With Tyree — he’s the third back. People don’t like to hear that, but he’s the third option. They have two running backs ahead of him, but he has great speed and ability in the open field.”
