The injury bug around Notre Dame spring practice could’ve been worse, but there were certainly a few hiccups. Two of those involved running back Logan Diggs and defensive lineman Aidan Keanaaina. The former tore his labrum during the spring game, while the latter tore his ACL during the first workout of the spring on March 17. But the two players released posts over the weekend showing their respective recoveries are going quite well.

After a promising rookie campaign, Diggs was expected to be the top running back for the Irish heading into the season. That spot currently belongs to Chris Tyree while Diggs continues his recovery. Head coach Marcus Freeman has previously said the timeline for Diggs’ return is around late September, although it is subject to change.

Keanaaina, a rising junior out of Colorado, was expected to miss the entire 2022 season after the ACL tear. That still very well may be the case, but he looks pretty darn good here.

The BlueandGold.com staff will get formal updates on all team injuries when fall camp gets underway on Friday, Aug. 5.

Quote of the weekend

“My knee’s doing well. Everything inside the knee is healed. The only thing I’m dealing with right now is tendonitis in the front of the knee, and that’s just because that’s where they took my new ACL from the patellar tendon. That’s the only thing that’s painful, but I’m able to do all football related movements; I’m running, cutting, jumping, stopping. I’m doing everything. I’m in a good spot.”
