Irish defensive line coach Al Washington and the Notre Dame staff offered a handful of interior prospects on Thursday and several more players who are either vypers or defensive ends for the staff. For the purposes of this article, we’ll lump them together and use the term “EDGE.”

St. Patrick’s Day is a built-in holiday for Notre Dame to utilize on the recruiting trail, and during the “Pot of Gold” day, the staff offered many, many new prospects. Here’s a look at the EDGE offers.

PROMOTION: Sign up for just $1 for first year at Blue & Gold

Buford (Ga.) High DE Eddrick Houston

Height/weight: 6-3, 230
On3 Consensus Ranking: No. 22 NATL, No. 1 EDGE and No. 5 player from Georgia
Other notable offers: Florida State, Texas A&M, Alabama, Georgia and Ohio State

Blurb: Houston has five-star talent written all over him. He’s the No. 1 EDGE prospect in America per the 2024 On3 Consensus, and he has the offer list to back it up. It seems that Houston is fairly wide open as it doesn’t seem like he’s taken many recruiting trips just yet. It would be major news if Notre Dame is able to get him on campus this offseason.

Tucson (Ariz.) Salpointe Catholic DE Elijah Rushing

Height/weight: 6-6, 226
On3 Consensus Ranking: No. 57 NATL, No. 6 EDGE and No. 2 player from Arizona
Other notable offers: Oregon, USC, Arizona State, Miami, Arizona

Blurb: Notre Dame hosted Rushing for a home game last September, and at the time, Rushing was far from the national prospect that he is today purely based on his offer list and national status. But the Irish staff identified him early and built a relationship with him, and it paid off for both parties as Notre Dame offered him on St. Patrick’s Day for the “Pot of Gold” initiative. Notre Dame will battle powerhouse programs for Rushing, who will play in the 2024 All-American Bowl.

Baltimore St. Paul’s School DE Ernest Willor

Height/weight: 6-2.5, 220
On3 Consensus Ranking: No. 28 NATL, No. 2 EDGE and No. 1 player from Maryland
Other notable offers: Ohio State, Penn State, Maryland, Rutgers, Virginia Tech

Blurb: Eddrick Houston is the top EDGE in America per the 2024 On3 Consensus, and Willor is right behind him at No. 2. He’s already been invited to the 2024 Under Armour All-America Game. He’s listed under 6-3 but reports on his Twitter page that he’s 6-5. This is an intriguing prospect who the Irish are now after.

Deerfield Beach (Fla.) Dillard DE Joshua Lloyd

Height/weight: 6-1, 220
On3 Consensus Ranking: N/A
Other notable offers: Georgia Tech, Iowa State, Pittsburgh, USF, Appalachian State

Blurb: Notre Dame clearly feels it’s ahead of other powerhouse programs in identifying some of these prospects on the defensive line, such as Lloyd who is not a household name yet. In fact, he’s only visited one school to this point (Georgia Tech), but the Notre Dame offer will surely put him on the map.

Kansas City (Mo.) St. Pius X VYP Jayshawn Ross

Height/weight: 6-3, 220
On3 Consensus Ranking: No. 88 NATL, No. 11 EDGE and No. 3 player from Missouri
Other notable offers: Kansas, Nebraska, Kansas State, Penn State, Oregon

Blurb: Ross reports that he runs a 4.57 40-yard dash time; anything close to it would be impressive for his size, position and age. Ross is still in the very early stages of his recruitment. He’s only taken a few visits thus far including a couple to Kansas, the program that’s about 30 miles from his home town.

Destrehan (La.) High VYP Kolaj “Tut” Cobbins

Height/weight: 6-3, 210
On3 Consensus Ranking: N/A
Other notable offers: Michigan, Florida State, Ole Miss, Purdue, Tulane

Blurb: Cobbins is a member of the all-name team, that’s for sure. He’s a recent riser in the 2024 class, as his first offer didn’t come until last December, but it was a big one — Florida State. Cobbins was named to the 2021 Louisiana Sportswriter Association 5A All-State Football Team.

Mobile (Ala.) Christian School EDGE Sterling Dixon

Height/weight: 6-3, 190
On3 Consensus Ranking: N/A
Other notable offers: Tennessee, Georgia, Florida State, Ole Miss, Mississippi State

Blurb: The SEC is calling for Dixon, who is considered a Tennessee lean per the On3 RPM. Notre Dame is looking to make things interesting and hopefully get him up to campus soon. Dixon is nearly at 20 scholarship offers, and it seems he’s on a collision course with 30-plus.
