Late last week, Notre Dame quarterback Sam Hartman gifted his Fighting Irish teammates SlipSpeed training shoes from Under Armour. And on Monday afternoon, On3’s Pete Nakos had the scoop that Hartman signed an endorsement deal with Beats by Dre, and the Irish’s signal-caller gifted every teammate a pair of headphones.

An hour after Nakos’ report, the official Notre Dame football Twitter account shared a video of Hartman announcing to his teammates that they’d be receiving new custom Beats headphone.

“I love taking care of you guys … We have a long flight; we might need something to take care of us on the flight,” Hartman said to his teammates. “For the fellas, a little company called Beats hooked us up.”

And the crowd goes wild. “It’s like Christmas every day with Sam Hartman,” starting long snapper Michael Vinson said.

That’s two gifts to his teammates in three days. Again, the first was new shoes from Under Armour.

Hartman was recently one of seven Notre Dame football players quoted in a BlueandGold.com story documenting what the Irish think of Under Armour being the university’s apparel supplier. Hartman, the media-savvy veteran he is, was coy. The signal-caller who wore Nike for five seasons at Wake Forest said, “It’s just gear.”

To him, it’s free gear, wrote BlueandGold.com’s Tyler Horka. Perhaps more of it than the average Irish student-athlete gets because of his NIL deal. The players who aren’t getting extra bags seem to be satisfied with Under Armour though too. Running backs Jeremiyah Love and Jadarian Price wore Under Armour at their high schools, as did senior wide receiver Chris Tyree. They all gave satisfactory reviews of the brand.

“Under Armour’s a good brand,” Price said.” I wear it outside of football. It’s comfortable. That’s what I’m used to. I’m pretty excited with what we’re doing in the future with Under Armour.”

Quote of the day

“I’m looking forward to being able to meet coach [Brian] Newberry. He’s done a heck of a job as a defensive coordinator for Navy. Really respect what he’s done. They’ve been very good on defense. Now with this transition to being a head coach, I’m sure they will take after the head coach. I’m expecting to see a very aggressive, talented football team that plays extremely hard. They’ve shown that on film. We’re looking forward to the challenge.”
