COLUMBUS — Ohio State is adding a talented, up-and-coming name to its coaching staff.

The program announced Wednesday morning that it has added Nick Kellogg to its staff as an assistant to head coach Chris Holtmann and the director of scouting.

Kellogg, a former basketball star at Ohio University who was recruited to Athens by current Buckeyes coach Chris Holtmann, was most recently the video coordinator for the Milwaukee Bucks. He was a part of the Bucks staff that won an NBA title in 2021.

“We are excited about the addition of Nick to our coaching staff,” Holtmann said in a release put out by the university. “Nick’s work with the Milwaukee Bucks these past two seasons as well as his college and professional playing experiences will be a great asset to our current and future Buckeyes. Obviously, the Kellogg name is special among so many who have followed Buckeye basketball over the years. We really look forward to Nick’s work and contribution to Buckeye hoops.”

Kellogg played four seasons as a starter at Ohio from 2011-14. He appeared in 143 career games for the Bobcats, scoring 1,449 career points as a sharp-shooting 3-point specialist. Kellogg and the Bobcats made it to the 2012 Sweet 16 during an NCAA Tournament run.

Now he is joining an Ohio State staff that is hoping to have similar NCAA Tournament appearances in the future.

“Coach Holtmann and I go back to his recruiting days at Ohio University, and I’m thrilled to be reunited and working with him,” Kellogg said in the release. “He’s a tremendous coach and he’s put together a great staff that I’m very much looking forward to learning from. I can’t thank him and his staff enough for the opportunity to take the next steps in my career in my hometown.”

Kellogg, the son of former Ohio State star Clark Kellogg, is just the latest move by Holtmann to make the coaching staff better this offseason — with big goals in mind for the future of the Ohio State hoops program.
