COLUMBUS — Ohio State is adding to its offensive line, a unit that needs reinforcements.

The Buckeyes are aggressively dipping into the transfer portal to address the need in the trenches. They landed a commitment from former Louisiana-Monroe offensive lineman Victor Cutler on Wednesday, according to Lettermen Row sources.

Cutler later announced the move on social media, and it’s a huge boost to the Ohio State offensive line, which is trying to replace three starters who departed for the NFL Draft, and its pursuit of depth.

Cutler will have two years of eligibility remaining with the Buckeyes.

After starting 21 games for the Warhawks — and appearing in 29 contests — over the last three seasons, Cutler provides versatility and depth for Ohio State. He started games at center, right tackle and left tackle. The belief within the Buckeyes program, according to a source, is that he will be used on the interior. That could change based on needs, especially considering his experience at three different positions.

Ohio State needed help from the transfer portal along the offensive line after losing both starting tackles, Paris Johnson Jr. and Dawand Jones, as well as its two-year starting center Luke Wypler. All three declared for the NFL Draft, leaving major holes in the Buckeyes trenches.

Cutler should help alleviate the pressure of replacing them. In games against Alabama and Texas last season, Cutler gave up just one sack on one pressure. He posted an 84.8 pass-blocking grade against the Crimson Tide back in September, proving he can compete against top competition.

That experience is what made Victor Cutler a coveted offensive lineman from the transfer portal. It’s why Ohio State is adding him to the roster.

And the help the Buckeyes desperately needed along the offensive line has officially arrived in time for spring practice. Victor Cutler has committed to Ohio State after three impressive seasons at Louisiana-Monroe.
