Photos: Buckeyes blow doors off Rutgers
PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Ohio State showed plenty of inconsistency throughout the first three weeks of the season.
But the Buckeyes have made a statement to the rest of the Big Ten over the past two weeks. They put their foot down Saturday afternoon at SHI Stadium by blowing the doors off of Rutgers.
Ohio State scored 14 points in the blink of an eye and were in complete control from the start. The Buckeyes cruised to a 52-13 win in New Jersey to move to 4-1 overall and 2-0 in the Big Ten.
That was backed by an explosive burst by TreVeyon Henderson to get things rolling following a defensive stop. Then, C.J. Stroud showed that he’s clearly back to full health. The redshirt freshman quarterback showcased poise, confidence and pinpoint accuracy. He finished 17-of-23 for 330 yards and five touchdowns in the best performance of his young career.
“He showed what he’s capable of today,” Ohio State coach Ryan Day said. “Now he’s got to keep rolling and stay consistent.”

As for the other side of the ball, the infusion of young talent mixed with the veteran group continued to excel. Denzel Burke snagged his first career interception and returned it for a touchdown. Ronnie Hickman finished with a team-high nine tackles as he continued his ascension.
The Buckeyes put up 52 points in the first 35 minutes of the game before calling off the dogs. That capped an all-around impressive performance against a much-improved Rutgers program led by coach Greg Schiano.
Lettermen Row was on hand to capture more than 150 photos from the Buckeyes’ beatdown of the Scarlet Knights. You can check out all of them below on what was a beautiful, sunny Saturday afternoon on the east coast.
