Signed: Brandon Inniss spearheads annual wide receiver haul for Buckeyes

The Early-Signing Period is here and Ohio State is set to once again bring in one of the country’s best recruiting classes. Lettermen Row is tracking the Buckeyes recruiting news throughout the signing period as 2023 commitments officially join the Ohio State football program. The latest Letter of Intent is in: Brandon Inniss has signed with the Buckeyes.

COLUMBUS — Brandon Inniss at the beginning wasn’t going to be a Buckeye.

He had given his pledge to Lincoln Riley and Oklahoma, but Riley left for USC and Inniss needed a new home. Ohio State wide receiver coach Brian Hartline missed once, and once was enough.

Inniss made it official Wednesday that Ohio State was going to be home and he signed his National Letter of Intent.

Who is Brandon Inniss?

Brandon Inniss is a 6-foot, 180-pound wide receiver who committed to the Buckeyes on June 21, 2022. Inniss originally was committed to Oklahoma, but decommitted on Nov. 28, 2021.

On3 Consensus Ranking: Five-star, No. 28 overall, No. 4 WR, No. 7 Florida

On3 Ranking: Four-star, No. 94 overall, No. 15 WR, No. 20 Florida

Hometown: Miami Gardens, Florida

High School: American Heritage

Inniss was the third wide receiver committed to Hartline in the 2023 cycle. He decommitted from Oklahoma and quickly moved up the Buckeyes board.

Even though he reopened his recruitment it wasn’t until after multiple spring visits and an official visit that Inniss decided to make the commitment to Hartline.

He’s a rangy wide receiver that excels in the slot or as an X-receiver.

Inniss is part of a four-head monster in the latest wide receiver haul by Hartline. Noah Rogers, Carnell Tate and Bryson Rodgers complete the class at wideout and have all the potential to be the next Buckeye greats.

How did Inniss end up at Ohio State?

The standard answer for a wide receiver to this question is, Brian Hartline.

It’s the opportunity to learn and develop under one of — if not the — best position coach in the country. Hartline knows what it takes to be a star at Ohio State and then have a successful career in the NFL.

That relationship is bound to pay off and come next fall, Inniss will wear the scarlet and gray.

Developed wide receiver who has been on the national radar dating back to middle school. Emerged as a college prospect while playing on varsity as an eighth grader. Has a technically advanced skill set. Has high-level quickness both in his releases and at the top of his routes. Can break off defensive backs with his change of direction. Competitive and embraces matchups with other top prospects. A standout on the camp and 7-on-7 circuit. Tests as a good athlete in the combine setting. Not as productive as some other top receivers as a junior in part due to being forced to play quarterback for part of the season. Has a tendency to let the ball get into his body at times, but has shown more high-point ability as a junior. Fights for yardage after the catch. Has the look of a high-floor prospect who should be set up to contribute early in his college career.
