15 players from 2024 Buckeyes class enroll early

The second semester has started at Ohio State. Winter workouts are next week for the Buckeyes. And that means their early enrollees are on campus getting acclimated to Ohio State life.

A total of 15 players — seven on offense and eight on defense — from the 2024 Buckeyes recruiting class are already in Columbus.

The offensive group is headlined by All-American Bowl Player of the Year Jeremiah Smith, the No. 1 wideout and No. 1 overall prospect in this year’s cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking.

Here is the full group of offensive players to enroll early for the Buckeyes this time around:

Three of Ohio State’s four offensive lineman signees have arrived. The Armstrong twins and Ian Moore will get working with O-Line coach Justin Frye right away.

Quarterback Air Noland, the On3 Industry Ranking’s No. 5 signal caller this cycle, is with the Buckeyes, and he’ll get a head start, alongside Smith and running backs James Peoples and Sam Williams-Dixon, at least one of whom could make an early impact at Ohio State.

As for the defensive side of the ball, here are the Buckeyes’ early enrollees:

Getting defensive lineman Eddrick Houston to sign, and not flip, during the early signing period was huge for the Buckeyes. The On3 Industry Ranking’s No. 4 EDGE this cycle will be joined by another new Buckeyes defensive lineman this winter, Eric Mensah.

James Laurinaitis and Jim Knowles will get the benefit of working with linebackers Garrett Stover and Payton Pierce from January on.

Cornerbacks Aaron Scott Jr. and Bryce West — the On3 Industry Ranking’s No. 1 and No. 2 2024 prospects from Ohio — are now in the mix with an already extremely deep room headed by secondary/CBs coach Tim Walton. Miles Lockhart has also entered the fold at that position.

With the arrival of those early enrollees, plus the start of winter workout around the corner, the Ohio State offseason really is underway.

Will they stay or will they go: Tracking 2024 plans for draft-eligible Buckeyes

In addition to welcoming new additions to the roster, the Buckeyes are also welcoming back familiar faces. Several Ohio State standouts have decided to put the NFL Draft on pause and return to the Buckeyes for the 2024 season.

Wide receiver Emeka Egbuka was the latest to make that call. He’ll have a chance to leave Ohio State as the program’s all-time leading receiver and, in the process, elevate his draft stock.

How Zahir Mathis impacts Ohio State 2025 defensive line recruiting board

Four-star Philadelphia (Pa.) Imhotep Institute EDGE Zahir Mathis chose the Buckeyes this week over Florida State, Tennessee, Texas and South Carolina.

Mathis is the No. 5 EDGE and the No. 68 overall prospect according to On3. But he’s also first defensive line commit in the Buckeyes’ 2025 class. He can’t be the last, though.
