OL Trey Leroux has wrapped Buckeyes career, is not back for 2024

Ohio State reserve offensive lineman Trey Leroux is turning the page after four years with the program. Leroux, who played sparingly after joining the Buckeyes in 2020, graduated this past December and is not back with the program for winter workouts, sources confirmed to Lettermen Row.

Leroux won’t be with the Buckeyes next season, even though he has two years of eligibility remaining. Not only does the 6-foot-7, 315-pound lineman still have his COVID-19 year, but he also redshirted his first season at Ohio State.

Leroux had a nice high school career at Norwalk, where he was crowned the Ohio Prep Sportswriters Association Northwest District Lineman of the Year and named to the All-Ohio first team both as a junior and as a senior. He brought his impressive frame to Columbus but saw minimal playing time.

Actually, according to Pro Football Focus, Leroux’s only offensive snaps came during the 2021 season: eight of them, all at right guard at Indiana.

He was the No. 111 offensive tackle prospect in the 2020 class and the No. 42 recruit in Ohio that cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking.

Three areas for Buckeyes to remain aggressive this offseason

To say Ohio State has been aggressive so far this offseason would be an understatement. The Buckeyes have swung for the fences in the transfer portal and landed six players, including big names such as Julian Sayin, the top quarterback prospect in the 2024 class; Will Howard, one of the top transfer quarterbacks this cycle; Caleb Downs, a second-team AP All-American safety; and Quinshon Judkins, a two-time All-SEC running back.

They’ve also retained 11 draft-eligible impact players while making a couple key changes to their coaching staff, most notably bringing in former Penn State and Houston Texans head coach Bill O’Brien to be their next offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.

Lettermen Row outlined three areas where Ohio State can remain aggressive this offseason. Check it out here.
