Josh Proctor ‘working his way back’ onto field for Buckeyes
Ohio State is in the beginning stages of a defensive overhaul this spring. One of the key pieces of that puzzle will soon begin to work back onto the field.
After suffering a broken leg early last season, Buckeyes starting safety Josh Proctor is progressing well and going through rehab. And he might even be able to do some drills on the field this spring for Ohio State, just months after the gruesome leg injury suffered against Oregon.
“He’s going to start working his way back into some drills as we get back off of spring break,” Ohio State coach Ryan Day said. “And I don’t know if he’ll be full by the end of spring. But he’s working through his rehab. We’re looking forward to getting him back into some drills as we push in through the middle of spring.”
As the Buckeyes go through their defensive overhaul, the progress — and eventual addition — of Proctor will be huge.
New Tim May Podcast with Buckeyes legend Eddie George
The Buckeyes open their spring practice sessions this week, and the 15 workouts over the next six weeks will provide a glimpse into the Buckeyes pursuit of a national title — and show just how good the roster can be.
And the Tim May Podcast is back for another jam-packed episode to break it all down with a very special guest. Tim is joined by legendary Ohio State running back and current Tennessee State head football coach Eddie George for a long conversation about past stories, George’s new gig as a head coach, the current Buckeyes roster and plenty more. Of course, Tim had to ask about his Heisman Trophy-winning season, too.
As the Buckeyes are set to open spring practice on Tuesday, Tim made sure to check in with Lettermen Row senior writer Austin Ward for a huge breakdown of what they are expecting in the next six weeks. Who will step up and make a push for playing time? Which freshman can break out? How can the Buckeyes prove they’re ready to get back to winning the Big Ten and getting to the College Football Playoff?

That conversations with Tim, Austin and Heisman Trophy winning running back Eddie George make this edition of The Tim May Podcast a must-listen episode. And it’s not just an Ohio State football discussion this week. It’s a college football conversation for everyone.
Pair of Buckeyes earn Big Ten hoops honors
Branham was named the Big Ten Freshman of the year by both the coaches and media on Tuesday, a recognition that shows he has arrived as one of the premier players in one of college basketball’s best conferences. Branham was also named third-team all-conference by the media and coaches.
He is the first Ohio State freshman to win Freshman of the Year since D’Angelo Russell in 2015.
Branham wasn’t the only Buckeyes star to earn recognition. E.J. Liddell was named a first-team all-Big Ten performer by the media and Big Ten coaches on Tuesday. It’s the second straight all-conference nod for the junior who is likely going pro after the postseason. Liddell was also named to the Big Ten All-defensive team by the coaches.
Even after Ohio State coach Chris Holtmann campaigned publicly for Liddell to be Big Ten Player of the Year, the junior forward didn’t earn that title. It instead went to Wisconsin’s Johnny Davis.
