Buckeyes captain apologizes for ‘failed mission’ in rivalry
Ohio State was dominated in The Game by its rival.
The Buckeyes left Ann Arbor with a loss, and crushed Big Ten and national title hopes, after giving up 297 yards on the ground to Michigan.
One Buckeyes captain is making sure to take accountability for what happened in the rivalry game. Senior defensive tackle Haskell Garrett issued a public apology for what happened to the Ohio State defense Saturday afternoon.
“To Buckeye Nation, I want to take this moment to apologize for a failed mission,” Garrett said in a graphic he tweeted. “As a defensive leader, I did not uphold the standard that was set before me in that game. Thank you all for sticking with us during a winter’s cold yesterday. May the rivalry clock reset. Go Bucks.”
It won’t be easy for the Buckeyes to get over the rare loss to Michigan. But moving on is going to start with leaders like Haskell Garrett.
Buckeyes QB Jack Miller enters transfer portal
Jack Miller, a former four-star prospect who has been with the Buckeyes for the last two seasons, entered the transfer portal Sunday.
Miller had fallen down the quarterback depth chart after losing the battle to start for the Buckeyes, slipping to third in the pecking order and then getting suspended late in the season after an off-the-field incident.
Miller appeared in four games with the Buckeyes this season, and he will have all of his eligibility left for his next program despite spending two years with Ohio State.
The path to playing time with the Buckeyes was a steep climb for Miller after getting out-dueled by both C.J. Stroud and Kyle McCord on the practice field. And the arrival of five-star freshman Quinn Ewers combined with his untimely suspension made it even more clear that Miller wasn’t going to have a role with Ohio State moving forward.

Ohio State falls in latest AP Poll after rivalry loss
Ohio State did not take care of business against Michigan on Saturday.
That convincing win by the Wolverines saw the Buckeyes take a fall after putting themselves in great position last weekend.
In the latest AP poll, Ohio State fell to No. 7 in America as the Buckeyes are now on the outside looking in of the nation’s elite programs this season. Georgia is once again unanimous top-ranked team in college football. The Bulldogs are followed by Michigan, which moved up to No. 2 in the country.
The AP vote does not affect the standings for the College Football Playoff. It is a separate poll.
Of course, for the Buckeyes purposes, the playoff doesn’t matter anymore. Ohio State is out of the race for a CFP spot following Saturday’s loss to Michigan.
A spot in the Rose Bowl or Fiesta Bowl is still in the cards for Ohio State as it will now wait to see its postseason fate.
Week 14 AP Top Five (Nov. 28)
- Georgia (62 first-place votes)
- Michigan
- Cincinnati
- Alabama
- Oklahoma State
