Oklahoma football camp has talent coming through Norman

Oklahoma football hosted its fourth round of prospects at the Brent Venables Football Camp Tuesday on the campus of the University of Oklahoma. Throughout the day, members of the Scoop staff took note as several new faces came in to workout for OU coaches.

There was also a very, very familiar face working out as Kevin Sperry continues to throw session after session. Sperry, a 2025 OU quarterback commitment, has thrown to a couple of Oklahoma commitments during his time in Norman. Tuesday he spent time connecting with Ennis (Texas) High School’s Gracen Harris. On top of that, he threw last week to Missouri City (Texas) Hightower wide receiver Zion Kearney.

Thursday’s session saw plenty of familiar faces in Oklahoma recruiting circles as Weatherford High School’s CJ Nickson came in to visit. Nickson might best be known national as the only player to score for Weatherford in a 4-2 win over Anadarko on the basketball court. Nickson didn’t workout but received plenty of attention from coaches, most notably Miguel Chavis. He was joined by Carl Albert’s Marcus James who showed plenty of versatility in coverage.

Oklahoma discovering new faces and giving out new offers

Staying in state, 2024 Oklahoma City Heritage Hall’s Andy Bass came in to work out, was impressive and left Norman with an official offer. The same happened for Spring (Texas) Legacy the School of Sports Sciences’ Mike Brown. The 2026 receiver came in as a bit of an unknown but left with an offer.

Brown is a new name to all of us. But he’s going to continue to be on more and more radars after Texas A&M and OU have thrown their hats in the ring.

After both sessions on Tuesday, SoonerScoop sat down in studio to recap their impressions of the day.

Josh McCuistion and Eddie Radosevich will walk you through what they saw with their own eyes. You’ll see the best video of the day from the ScoopHD cameras (soon to be Scoop4K). Get a look inside Tuesday’s football camps like you won’t get anywhere else.
