OU basketball takes Bedlam again, gives OSU first loss
OKLAHOMA CITY – There was one thing OU head coach Porter Moser wanted, needed to see from his team Saturday. Forget this victim mentality.
Yes, OU has been away from Norman for a while and playing ‘neutral’ site games in essentially road environments.
Suck it up. And there were times in Bedlam against Oklahoma State when OU could have packed it in. That’s the fight Moser wanted to see.
OU was able to withstand the Cowboys’ run and answer with its own in a 85-76 victory at the Paycom Center in Oklahoma City.
It was the OU guards who came up huge. It’s been Nijel Pack all season, but the Sooners needed something from Xzavier Brown.
The transfer from St. Joe’s came through with a 21-point performance. Pack had 13 in the first half, including making three 3-pointers. He finished with 18 points.

The Sooners were up 41-35 at halftime before OSU rallied to take a 53-51 lead. There, though, was when the calmness set in. OU didn’t panic. Stuck to its plan and finish strong.
OSU worked an OU margin down to 79-76 in the final minute when Tae Davis was able to get a little separation with a monster dunk. OU made its free throws, and Bedlam belongs to the Sooners again.
It is the first loss of the season for OSU.
OU news/notes
*It seriously was a little bit of everybody at their own time. Maybe we’re still asking legitimately who the No. 1 option is for OU, but the Sooners have a lot of guys who are not afraid of the moment.
The Sooners had 22 bench points, and it was just about when the guys picked their spots.
*After starting 1-4 vs. OSU, Moser is now 5-4 and 4-0 in the last three seasons.
Up next
OK, back to Norman, finally. After a four-game stretch away from the Lloyd Noble Center, OU closes out 2025 with three straight. It begins 6 p.m. Tuesday vs. Kansas City.
