OU defensive tackle Jayden Jackson a 'game-time' decision at Alabama; R Mason Thomas 'out'

It appears as though the OU defense is not going to be nearly as healthy as first envisioned. Head coach Brent Venables was so pumped last week, saying the team would get a bunch of bodies back.
But after the final availability report? Doesn’t appear to be the case. Defensive end R Mason Thomas now officially out. And defensive tackle Jayden Jackson has been labeled as a ‘game-time’ decision Saturday afternoon.
OU is at Alabama 2:30 p.m. on ABC, as the Sooners try to keep their College Football Playoff hopes alive in Tuscaloosa.
It’s not a shock with Thomas, after injuring himself during his 71-yard scoop-and-score return against Tennessee two weeks ago.
Initially thought of as a hamstring injury, it has been a quad issue for Thomas. He had been questionable the whole week.
The surprise came with Jackson. That surprise came because heading into the bye week last week? There was nothing wrong with Jackson. He played 39 snaps in Knoxville and nothing appeared to be an issue.

However, the talented OU tackle showed up as questionable Wednesday and has been ever since.
OU did get some good news with linebacker Kobie McKinzie back in action. The captain of the defense, at least in terms of communication, missed the OU win at Tennessee.
Also, one of the offensive weapons will be returning. Wide receiver Keontez Lewis, who has not played since the loss vs. Texas, is officially good to go.
Both McKinzie and Lewis began the availability report this week as probable and end the week not even being listed. Same can be said about offensive tackle Derek Simmons.
However, if OU has to play without Thomas, Jackson and cornerback Gentry Williams? That is one tough task to ask the Sooners to get it done.
Time for talking is over. Time to football it up at Bryant-Denny Stadium.
