OU vs Alabama game recap: Sooners shock the Crimson Tide

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — No. 11 OU shocked No. 4 Alabama on Saturday night at Bryant-Denny Stadium. And shocked the world.
The Sooners, which were six-point underdogs, beat the Crimson Tide thanks to an incredible defensive effort. OU totaled only 212 yards compared to Alabama’s 406. But it was three turnovers — including a pick-6 — that was the difference for Oklahoma.
Here’s how it all went down.
The moment: Sophomore cornerback Eli Bowen returned an interception 87 yards for a touchdown in the first quarter. That play gave OU a commanding 10-0 lead early in the game and set the tone for the defense.
MVP: DE Taylor Wein. The junior defensive end had some of the biggest plays of the game. He blocked a field goal to end the first half and had a strip sack in the third quarter that led to a field goal for OU. Wein finished with three tackles, one tackle for loss and a sack.
