Cocoa (Fla.) quarterback Davin Wydner announced on Thursday he would be walking on at Ole Miss.

The 6-foot-5, 218 pound signal caller was previously committed to UCF before opting for a flip to the Rebels. The Melbourna, Fla., prospect had a fantastic senior season at Cocoa High School, throwing for 3,529 yards, 25 touchdowns and completing 70 percent of his passes, earning Florida Class 4A Player of the Year honors. His yardage total through the air set a single season program record.

Wydner held offers from Rutgers, Florida Atlantic, FIU, Maryland, Georgia Tech, Pittsburgh, Tulane, Appalachian State and Princeton but ultimately decided to accept a preferred walk-on spot in Oxford thanks to the recruiting efforts of co-offensive coordinator Charlie Weis, Jr. and offensive assistants Seth Doege and Dane Stevens.

The On3 Consensus three-star will join Bakersfield Christian (Calif.) quarterback Braden Waterman on the 2022 roster and in Weis’ quarterback room.

According to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, Wydner is ranked as the No. 1258 overall prospect in the 2022 class. He’s the No. 78 quarterback and the No. 163 player in Florida.
