Ole Miss joined the growing list of potential suitors for Mount St. Mary’s combo guard De’Shayne Montgomery. On Sunday, the Rebels reached out to the 6-foot-4, 190 pound prospect. Others involved early for the Fort Lauderdale, Fla., prospect are LSU, Georgia, Mississippi State, Illinois, Miami, Florida, Virginia Tech, Clemson, TCU, Maryland, St. John’s, Arkansas, Xavier, Georgetown, Seton Hall and East Carolina.

The MAAC Rookie of the Year averaged 13.2 points this season. In his post grad year, helped lead Hargrave Military Academy (Va.) to a 44-2 record. He averaged 16.4 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 2.8 steals per game while shooting 56 percent from the field and 38 percent from three-point range.

De’Shayne Montgomery is originally from the Sunshine State.

As a senior year at Somerset Prep North Lauderdale, averaged 19.5 points, 6.1 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 3.4 steals per game. This year at The Mount, he had a chance to play against Ole Miss and Chris Beard. He led the Mountaineers in scoring against the Rebel, dropping 22 points. He was 9-for-15 from the field while also chipping in four steals and three rebounds.

Montgomery scored in double figures 18 times in 2023-2024 for Mount St. Mary’s. He had 25 or more points five times.
